I also used to use Polyprint but now my local Household Recycling facility will take type 4 polythene bags , so I can take them along with the other items monthly.

Well done with the nappies and wipes - I'm really pleased!! You can get flour by the sackfull easilly enough theres a local wholefood delivery company that sell it...along with lots of other goodies!

Congratulations on the wet wipes and nappies - that's great work. It was too late for my children...all theirs ended up in landfill. Finding zero waste cereal is difficult. I discovered Shredded Wheat which are packaged in a paper wrapper inside the cardboard box. I put the wrapper in the compost heap. If you're after buying flour in bulk, you'll need to find a local windmill. Not many in Cornwall I guess. I'm looking forward to seeing the results of the weekend. Hee hee - that bread sound like mine. You could try rolls instead, at least they could be used as building blocks. When I tried my own ZWW, I gave it a good build up of about 7 weeks (excessive I know, but I had to learn so much). The best thing about a challenge like this is that no matter when you start it, it is always the beginning of a real change to habits, and changes that will last with you forever. :-D

Hi Jon - blimmin plastic. I am so lucky that we've got a deposit point locally, which I'm investigating might just take bubble wrap too (fingers crossed). I'm glad you've discovered Polyprint. I know that Mrs G has used them in the past, as has a lady called Judith from Bath who did a ZWW two years ago. For anyone interested in the cost, she told me that she pays £1.52 to send a parcel weighing just under 500g, in 2nd class post. Now that's cheap as chips. Good luck with the rest of the week :-D

Thanks both...I'll check out Tetrapak locations, we used to send them all to Scotland when we had enough but the carbon footprint starts to come into to it then?? Oh the dilemma...re polythene, that sounds interesting. As far as margarine goes, we've started buying the blocks..unfortunatly we had some left over from last week...that's the problem with doing it for just a week...ideally we needed to prepare a month in advance and then run it for a month...that way we'd really see the difference...small things though!!

Re tetrapaks; have you checked out this:

Well done on your antics in the butchers; that is fabulous. We're yet to convince anyone else to do as we do, but how wonderful that the lady after you asked for greaseproof paper too. We take our own reusable containers, which means no paper to compost either.

Tesco's All Butter Croissants. My wife insists on buying these - 4 in a plastic box. As if that's not enough on the carbon footprint front, they are then individually warmed in the oven instead of being eaten cold or bunged in the toaster!
